LETTER TO MEMBERS 30th JUNE 2021

Dear Bridge Player,

Thank you to all of you who completed our recent surveys. I'm sure you will join me in recognising how difficult and important our decisions regarding the future of the club have been. The well being of all our players and staff is incredibly important in these difficult times.

Our survey results have definitely indicated a high level of uncertainty - following which we have made the difficult decision not to open for face to face bridge this year and for the club to remain as an online only club for the rest of 2021. We intend to review this decision at the end of the year but can make no promises at this stage as to the outcome.

Many of you already enjoy our duplicate programme. We hope in the Autumn to be adding one or two more events.

The results of the survey show that the majority of you enjoy RealBridge so from next week our Wednesday duplicate at 10am will move over to RealBridge and we will not run any BBO sessions. To the few of you who only currently play on BBO - give RealBridge a go. You might be pleasantly surprised!

I have to say I am rather disappointed at the take up for our supervised bridge programme. Whilst we had initial teething problems we now find that the RealBridge platform provides a superb alternative to face to face bridge. We intend to continue with our Tuesday daytime (11am) and Thursday evening (8.15pm) sessions but for the summer months we are suspending our Wednesday afternoon supervised duplicate session until the Autumn with immediate effect.

We have had some very successful teaching held through RealBridge and Zoom. We intend to run more and will send you details when the programme has been finalised.

Whilst I miss each and every one of you I sincerely hope you will be able to join our club activities online, particularly if you have not yet given it a go!

Very best wishes

Neil Rosen
